PLAYERS OF THE DAY: SHIRAZ & LSJ FLEX THEIR MUSCLES ON ‘RAP FOR SPORT’

Auckland duo Shiraz & LSJ have started the year strong, dropping a stellar 8-track project entitled ‘Rap for Sport’. Packed heavy with sporting references both lyrically and instrumentally. The nonchalant demeanour of the growroom locals shines strong.

Shiraz’s off-kilter flow compliments the production of LSJ incredibly well. The track, Jurk, is a perfect example of this. Shiraz delivers clever wordplay, making all sorts of references, from Chris Browns collab album with Tyga (Fan of a Fan) to the ‘Jerk’. The dance craze that took over the world in the late 2000s. All this over an infectious loop from LSJ.

It seems that a new spark has been ignited under the young pair in 2019 so we can expect more great records like these to come in the near future.
